Susanne {Author website shots}

The lovely Miss Susanne, a local author and blogger, contacted me to take some pictures to personalize her website. She is in the process of updating it and wanted some pictures to go with the website makeover.  We did some headshots as well as a variety of blank space ones to leave area for text to go over part of the picture.

My absolute favorite but I can't decide if I like color or black and white better, what do you think?

BTN Fitness {Zumba Instructors}

I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year, orders have finally slowed down around here and I had a moment to sit down and blog this session I shot tonight. If you are like the majority of Americans, you've put on some holiday weight- and maybe you've made some New Years Resolutions to work harder to stay in shape. Regardless of where you are at, I can recommend Zumba as a fun way to get a workout. Sort of like a dance party, it's a good time and helps you forget that you are, in fact, burning calories. I have personally taken classes from Kinsey and had a great time, and just hanging out with Nicole tonight I get the sense she would be a lot of fun to take a class from as well. Check them out at BTN Fitness!

The purpose of this shoot was just to get a couple good head shots, but I asked Kinsey's permission to play around as well so I could unleash my creativity. Luckily she said yes! Favorite shot of the night: photo image_-10_tn-4.jpg ZUMBA!

Tara {Kindermusik teacher portraits Lewiston, ID}

I had the pleasure of spending some time with Tara this evening, shooting her in her element (her Kindermusik room). She is starting classes soon, so if you have a little one, check them out!
Tara's a pretty neat lady, she's very smart and has a degree in secondary education with music and some thing to do with choir. Anyhow, she now has found a new joy in teaching a completely different age of kids to love music.
Here's my favorite shots from tonight:

Pamela Thorson {author head shots Lewiston, ID}

Pamela Thorson is a local writer that penned the book "Song in the Night", the story of how her son, Kevin, was paralyzed in a tragic accident and how their family has overcome the hardships. I've read the book, and it's a good read. I was actually on the same youth outreach team as Kevin and was there when he had his accident, so I was telling Pam it was a bit surreal to read about something in a book that I saw happen in real life. Kevin is a miracle, and it's been so cool to see how a guy that was written off by medical teams as good as dead has overcome so many things and is now able to run his own website as well as do graphic animation that is good enough it was picked up by the Discovery channel. (Or maybe it was the History channel? Either way, it was something well known- forgive me Kevin for not knowing the exact details- sorry!)

 Pamela has now written a second book that will be released next year, a book celebrating the gift of life and encouraging those for whom life is a daily battle. The new book is a devotional for caregivers with the working title "Out from the Shadows". She hired me to shoot some headshots for the media kit of her new book.
Here's a few of my favorites:

For fun, a snagged a couple artsy shots. Kind of goes with the "Out from the Shadows" theme: photo image_-14_tn.jpg

And just because his picture was on my memory card, and thought you'd like to see my handsome husband :) photo image_-1-2_tn.jpg These photos are copyright protected. Do not save, copy, or reproduce in any way. Stealing makes me sad.

Business portait {round 2}

Tonight Trav and I shot the second business portrait I've been wanting to do for a while (for the "About Ange" section of my website.) This shot was SO FRUSTRATING. I love being the photographer during a session. I hated being the photographer, the model, and also watching to make sure my kids don't kill themselves on the bleachers (although my little boy did his best to try to accomplish this goal) while also having technical difficulties. My lights NEVER give me problems, they always work fantastic, but today, I think because they knew I would not be behind the camera, they all misbehaved. So while I'm trying to give directions to my husband behind the camera, who is great with natural light but knows almost nothing about strobing (that would be my territory), my lights refused to work as they should (which means I'm running around frantically in ridiculous heels that keep falling through the rotting wood in the bleachers), the light disappeared at incredible speeds, and my kids knocked my equipment and themselves over. *Sigh*. So, while this shot isn't all I wanted it to be, it's enough. And with that I will be happy.
That, my friends, is why I remain the photographer, who wears clothes and shoes that I can move around in, and why I remain perfectly happy crawling on the ground. I'm much more comfortable there. I'll leave the modeling to the rest of you! :)

Next time, I find a babysitter. At least then I don't have to worry about cracked heads.

Me {business portrait}

It was time for a new photo of me on the "About Ange" section of my website. The old one was getting pretty dated (over 3 years old if you are counting) and I wanted something this time that felt more "me". Something quirky, creative, and fun. So I put my brain to work and came up with this:

Sometimes I feel like I look like this after photo shoots. Which is also the reason that I always bring a second set of clothes to all the weddings I shoot. Nothing like crawling around on the ground prior to the ceremony to get some good shots and then have to go into a church building covered in grass. :)

Thanks to Ryan and Jacque for letting us use your dirt this evening! The kids had a blast getting covered in dirt while we shot this, and I had a blast scrubbing this mess off myself once we were done (can you sense the sarcasm on that one?).

Life Choices Clinic {head shots}

I shot these head shots over at Life Choices Clinic in Lewiston this morning. In case you are curious, Life Choices Clinic is an organization that provides support and care for women from all walks of life that find themselves with an unplanned pregnancy (as well as other services) These are the staff members (there are also many volunteers), and they all care about the women and girls that they provide help for.

Jacqueline Michelle Consulting

I wanted to feature a great service here in the Lewis-Clark valley: Jacqueline Michelle consulting.  She is an image consultant with her certification from Stoltz Image Studio. For my clients, she would be fantastic to help you figure out what clothes would flatter you the most for photographs, and even help you choose the best fit for your wedding gown.  She also has many other services, such as workshops to help your business look more professional, as well as helping you "shop from your closet"- finding ways to mix and match outfits that flatter you best. All at very affordable prices.  I took a workshop from her and would highly recommend it.

I took the headshot for her page- if you are in need of a headshot, let me know!

River City Dance School

This last week found me shooting River City Dance School's portraits with their recital costumes. I love seeing all the kids with their costumes, especially the little ones. Before I started my photography business, I actually used to teach dance at River City, so this is like coming back home. :)

Spot On Yogurt

So, all I can say about this post is: YUM. I love Spot on Yogurt! If you are in the valley and you haven't been there, you MUST. It's a self-serve yogurt shop that lets you choose your yogurt, and then add whatever toppings you like. Did I mention I was pregnant? Yes, my little pregnant heart has been craving fall flavors so I'm super excited for those to be in soon. Because I've been wanting pumpkin yogurt since June. Yep, I know, that's a little early for pumpkin, but who cares?
Oh, and Karolen, the owner of Spot On, is a super sweet gal too, so if nothing else, go in to meet her! :)
