Molly & Shawn {Maternity/family Spokane, WA photography}

Yesterday we headed to Spokane to spend the night at my cousin, Molly's house. She and Shawn have moved from Oregon and relocated into the beautiful foothills of a gorgeous area of Spokane. I thought it would be fun to take the occasion to shoot some maternity/family portraits as they are expecting baby #2 in the fall. I'm so excited to meet this little one, he is welcomed into a wonderful family. He has a sister who is well prepared to help mother him, some really great parents who will love him to bits, and who love each other well.
Hope you enjoy my favorites from the evening:

Bailee {Maternity} Genesee, ID Portraits

I have a new resolution for my photography this year. A new determination. More than making a living off my work, I want to make a difference. I want my pictures to not just be portraits, but to tell stories. I love the beauty of photography that tells about a life. Sometimes I get so caught up in "the perfect picture" - getting everything just right- that I forget that sometimes the most perfect photos might be the ones in between- the look between a new groom and his bride- a father and his daughter. The little hand tightly wrapped around her daddy's rough hand. The picture that might be slightly out of focus or not exactly perfectly lit, or a hair out of place...but it doesn't matter because the perfection of the story is what speaks to our hearts and tells of a life well lived.  Looking back on photographs I've taken of those who have now passed, I realize that the perfect portrait wasn't the picture that means the most to those left behind. It's the embrace. The laughter, the tears.  So while I always strive for photographic excellence, I'm looking for the in-between. The moments that speak to our hearts and say "Yes, we loved well".

So I hope this session is a good start in that direction. The love of a mama for her unborn baby. Life is beautiful.

My favorite from the session:

Baby R. {birth story}

Little guy R. was born last night to Amanda and Danny. Amanda did a fantastic job and they are proud first time parents. Thanks for letting me photograph your birth story!

Their good friend Tanya attended the birth. Here she is playing with the placenta. The nurse gave us a little lesson on placentas. Pretty interesting!

Danny's a baby whisperer already:

Amanda {maternity}

 Amanda and Danny are expecting a baby boy in less than a month! Can't wait to see his cute face!

I'll show you the silly ones first. Amanda was saying that her brother in law has been saying how maternity portraits are so awkward, so she wanted to make sure and have some AWKWARD ones in there just for him. So these are for you JED! :)

Danny was jealous of how Amanda was getting all the attention and wanted to show us he can rock a maternity wrap too:

And now for some of the real ones:
