Oliver {newborn portraits}

You might remember Oliver from his birth last week. If you've followed me for awhile, you may be surprised to see newborn portraits coming through the feed. I don't actually photograph babies anymore. Weddings, seniors, engagements, things that involve large humans that can follow directions- that's more my forte. But since Ryan and Jacque are my good friends, they get away with asking me to do things like newborn portraits. So babies might not be the thing I'm best at, but I think these turned out pretty decent (helps that he is amazingly cute!):

Oliver {Birth Story}

Two of my favorite people in the world welcomed their sweet son to the world today. It was my pleasure to photograph his arrival. Oliver, you are handsome in all your chunky goodness :) I love you already. And thanks for making your arrival easier on your Mama then your sister did (she was in labor 56 some hours with Oliver's sister!)

Baby Girl A. {birth story}

This is more of a POST birth story. I was supposed to be there when this little girl entered the world, but she had other plans. 32 hours after texting back and forth with her parents, only sleeping an hour last night due to being to pumped full of adrenaline anxiously waiting for her, her dad called me to tell me I should probably make my way over, and literally a few minutes later she had entered the world while I was still driving to the hospital.
I'm so bummed I missed it but at least I got to see her beautiful face this morning. Happy Birthday baby girl, and on Father's day, no less!
- You'll see her Daddy whispering to her in pictures later- she was fussing while the nurse cleaned her up, and when she heard her Daddy's whispers in her ear, she stopped crying and calmed right down. A Daddy's girl already. I hear her two year old brother has plans to take her on a boat ride tomorrow. He may be disappointed to find out that his sister is mostly going to be sleeping for a while. :)
Oh! And one important note- if you are friends with the family, they are requesting no visitors right now as they are EXHAUSTED.

Baby R. {birth story}

Little guy R. was born last night to Amanda and Danny. Amanda did a fantastic job and they are proud first time parents. Thanks for letting me photograph your birth story!

Their good friend Tanya attended the birth. Here she is playing with the placenta. The nurse gave us a little lesson on placentas. Pretty interesting!

Baby "H". Birth Story

(Forgive any type-os in this post, I'm going on very little sleep and am lacking in the brain dept. right now) This post is so close to my heart. One of my dearest friends in all the world, Jacque, and her husband, who is also one of my good friends, gave birth to the most beautiful, perfect little girl I've ever seen. I've waited for this baby for YEARS. When she was born, it actually made me cry. And I'm not the cry-er type of girl. She made her mama work for it though. I believe 58 hours of labor was the end calculation. Poor Jacque. She was a trooper, and I was blessed to get to spend most of the night with her last night and half the day today watching her work to bring this baby girl into the world.
IRONICALLY enough, Baby H. was born on the EXACT same day as my son. The ironic part about it is that exactly a year ago today, Jacque was taking pictures of MY son being born.
Her due date was almost two weeks ago, but she waited two weeks, I think just so that we could share this special date. :) Ok, maybe not, but still really neat.

This picture is one of my favorites. It tells a story. It was so hard to watch Jacque go through all that pain, and have such a long drawn out labor, and not be able to do anything about it. You can see how painful that was for Ryan by looking in his eyes, and Jacque's mom was clearly trying to do some of the pushing herself. She made this face every time Jacque pushed, I think maybe hoping she could help vicariously.

Ryan & Jacque waited to find out the sex of their baby, so this was the moment when they first saw that they had a little girl:
