Kelsey is my baby cousin, I have fond memories of the cousin-gang getting together for family reunions, and we would always do Kelseys crazy fro-hair into some fun hair-do, or see how big we could make her hair get. As she got older, Kelsey got into fashion and was attending fashion design school- she made a complete hard turn into changing her passion to farming/food/sustainable practices and she and Alan now run a fantastic farm in Northern Idaho without the help of chemicals. If you ever have the chance to stop at the Couer de Alene farmer's market or the Sandpoint farmer's market, be sure and sample some of their fantastic produce. Her brother, Carson, lives on the farm with them with his lovely wife, Tianna, and they have a kombucha business they have started up this year- as someone who brews her own kombucha and drinks it daily, I have to say, they have really fine tuned it down to a fantastic flavor.
This wedding took place at Kelsey's parents house, and it is sooo beautiful there. Makes me wish I could get married again, it really is the perfect place for events. So much pretty to look at, and the food was made by the family (and a lot grown by Kelsey and Alan) and was absolutely fantastic.
They were married at sunset with just parents and siblings, and then the afternoon was the big party and a community ceremony- where they had all the guests stand in a big circle and had some meaningful moments there.
You'll see in the pics that her dress appears darker at the bottom- she actually made the dress herself and then dip-dyed it. I love the close-ups of their hands, because you can see, they work so hard they really can't get all the dirt out of their skin. Truly hard-working, salt-of-the-earth people. I imagine pioneer's hands looked like that back in the day.
I had the pleasure of being a "guestographer"- meaning I got to enjoy the day after we shot portraits, and just shot some pics of the event and such- but didn't have to be ON the whole time- which was really enjoyable.
Thank you to Kelsey and Alan for getting married so we had an excuse for such a fun party, and thanks to all the family and friends involved, it really was a labor of love put on by many. Hope you enjoy a few of my favorites from the big day:
So proud of my daughter, she ended up jumping on stage and singing with the band!
