New product: Folios
My portfolio supplier has been problematic lately, so I have made the decision to drop the leather portfolios from my portrait menu (although I do have two black 8 hole portfolios available if anyone would like one of those before I run out). I am happy to announce, though, that I have come up with an option that is much more modern, and will give your photographs a beautiful display. The cherry on top is it is from a supplier that does all my other professional printing and they have fantastic quality and service, which means I get to pass that on to you. :) Here are the brand-new folios! These aren't offered as part of a session's print credit, but can be purchased additionally as a specialty item, similar to the wall prints and canvases:

The 3 Gifts of Christmas
My daughter had the honor of being an actor in River City Dance School's Christmas production this year. She had a blast. The day of the dress rehearsal, I came in to snap a few shots so that the night of the actual production I wouldn't have to worry about taking pictures and could just enjoy it. Here's a few shots from that night:
My daughter and her "dad" in the play, Justin:

Pretty sure this is Rachel. I feel bad, I should know for sure- I taught her dance when she was little . But she and her sisters look SO much alike - makes it a little tricky ! Look how beautiful she is in her pointe dress:

Largent and Lori, narrating:

Congrats to all the dancers and performers in the piece, you all did wonderful!

Baby P. {newborn portraits}
Remember Baby P.? I shot his birth just a few weeks ago and it was high time for his newborn portraits. Can you believe the head of hair this kid has? I LOVE it!

One of my favorite baby shots ever. I wanted his face towards the camera, but he had other plans. Like eating Mom.

One Deserving Family: Family/couple portrait session giveaway!
I'm so excited to announce that in the spirit of Christmas, I am hosting a portrait session giveaway:

How to enter:
Send me an email (to info@amportraits.com- be sure to save a copy- I will confirm receipt, so if you don't receive confirmation in 24 hours, send it again) of around 200-400 words that tells me the family or couple's story (I want to hear how they embody the spirit of Christmas and giving in their lives), and why they are deserving of winning this session package. I want the nomination essay to really capture their personality and let me know who they are.
Attach a photo of the family or couple if you are nominating a couple . If you don't have a shot of the whole family, attach a few photos to make up the family.
Please be aware that for whoever wins, the nomination essay may be featured on the blog.
Rules of contest:
1. To nominate someone, you must be a fan of Ange Movius Photography on Facebook. It helps the family/couple's chances that you are nominating if they are facebook fans of Ange Movius Photography as well.
2. Each person is only allowed to nominate one family. Multiple nominations of the same family don't help their chances.
3. Event photography, Extended families, and large groups are excluded from this giveaway. It is for one immediate family only or a couple.
4. All entries must be received by Dec 31st.
5. The session will be shot between Feb 1st and April 30th 2012, per the photographer's schedule.
6. The prize is non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
7. You CAN nominate your own family.
What the winning family/couple will receive:
*A full session, on location in the Lewis-Clark Valley
*A gallery featuring their images, hosted for 30 days
*$275 print credit to be used within 30 days of the session- good towards prints 12x18 and smaller and negative CDs.

Jill {senior}
Just when I was starting to get in my "Dang it, senior season is already done and I've got all this creative juice left!" funk that always hits me in December, I received an e-mail from Jill's mom wondering if I could get her in quickly before yearbook deadline . So glad she asked ! Jill was so much fun to work with. She's a creative girl and she wanted her session to show that, to be something out of the ordinary. So glad I she picked me, because there's nothing I love more than being a little crazy.
She wanted to show her love for baking. Her mom has this fun little retro kitchen that worked
perfectly for the look I was going for. These shots feel kind of whimsical and fun. Love it.

We did some shots with her piano as well:

We shot a few with Murphy, her sweet big dog:

Work it Jill, you're fierce. : )
Oh, and Jill wins the record for the coldest session I've shot yet. It was freezing out (around 32 I believe, so literally freezing) and at about this point, one of my cameras actually stopped shooting correctly it got so cold.
Thank goodness for backup cameras!
Last but DEFINITELY not least, Jill told me she collects old records. I thought it'd be fun to do some creative shots with records (don't worry, no good records were ruined in the process of making these shots....just things like the Walla Walla community band- yes, that's on record- random records I picked up at Goodwill):
